OSI to Deliver IBNS for the U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ship Program
BURNABY, British Columbia, Canada — OSI Maritime Systems Nov. 29 announced the signing of a contract with Lockheed Martin to provide its Integrated Bridge and Navigation System (IBNS) for the U.S. Navy Freedom-variant littoral combat ship (LCS) program.
This contract was awarded to OSI after an extensive competitive process that was conducted by Lockheed Martin over several months. OSI’s IBNS design directly supports the Navy’s push to improve the affordability of the LCS, while updating and upgrading the integrated bridge and navigation capabilities.

The system is designed for warships and conforms to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Class Rules for Navigational Integrated Bridge System. In addition, it has received Marine Equipment Directive Type Approval certification from DNV GL as an Integrated Navigation System.

With the aim of increasing safe and efficient warship management, IBNS is a combination of interconnected systems, allowing for centralized access to sensor information and command and control from workstations located as required throughout the ship. IBNS features include: Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System, surface search radar display, track planning and automatic track following, speed control, integrated navigation information displays, and bridge alarm management.
