Press Release
Section 2B/5 — including the Virginia Payload Module (VPM) — of the future Virginia-class guided-missile submarine (SSGN 803) recently made its way from Quonset Point, Rhode Island, to Groton, Connecticut — marking the largest Virginia-class shipment ever transported. At 184 feet and featuring the first ever VPM, this delivery is a major milestone in Arizona’s construction. Arizona, the first submarine to incorporate VPM, will be about 460 feet long once complete.
